Sinulog Festival Tour Cebu
About this tour
Sinulog — held in Cebu City on the third Sunday of January — is the biggest festival in the Philippines. Three million people fill the streets. The Grand Parade fills Osmeña Boulevard for 12 straight hours with hundreds of competing contingents, each in spectacular costumes, dancing the sinulog step (two steps forward, one step back) to the rhythm of drums and the chant "Pit Señor!"
The celebration honors the Santo Niño de Cebu, a wooden image of the child Jesus brought by Magellan in 1521 and the most venerated religious icon in the Philippines. The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño is the oldest church in the country and the heart of the devotion.
