Moalboal Sardine Run
About this tour
One of the world's most spectacular marine phenomena happens just 50 meters off Moalboal's shore. A tornado of millions of sardines — the Moalboal Sardine Run — swirls in constantly shifting silver curtains, moving as one organism around you as you snorkel or free-dive among them.
Unlike most sardine runs (which are seasonal), Moalboal's sardines are resident year-round. The school hugs the reef wall just south of Panagsama Beach and is accessible by just swimming out from shore. No boat needed. You can snorkel right into the school — the sensation of being engulfed by millions of fish is unlike anything else in the Philippines.
Combine with a short dive or snorkel at the famous Pescador Island, a seamount 1km offshore with walls covered in soft corals, sea turtles and big fish.
