Coron WWII Wreck Diving Tour — 12 Japanese Shipwrecks
About this tour
On 24 September 1944, US aircraft attacked a Japanese fleet sheltering in Coron Bay and sank 12 supply ships. Today those wrecks are some of the most biodiverse artificial reefs in Southeast Asia, encrusted in 80 years of coral growth and teeming with marine life. Coron is widely considered the best wreck diving destination in Asia.
The day tour visits 3 wrecks across 2 dives. Popular sites include Okikawa Maru (the largest — a tanker in 12–48m, huge holds to penetrate), Skeleton Wreck (Kogyo Maru, 5–20m, human remains visible at the stern — most haunting), Akitsushima (a seaplane tender, 26m, intact and beautiful), and Olympia Maru (a supply ship overgrown with enormous fan corals).
Certification required: Open Water for shallow wrecks (Skeleton, Olympia). Advanced Open Water for Akitsushima and deeper sections of Okikawa. Wreck Diver specialty recommended but not mandatory.
