Occidental Mindoro faces the South China Sea and contains the Apo Reef Natural Park -- one of the finest dive sites in Asia with sharks, mantas and pristine coral. San Jose is the provincial capital and gateway for liveaboard trips to the reef. The western coast is remote, undeveloped and rarely visited by international tourists.
Getting there
Ferry from Batangas Port or fly to Puerto Princesa then bus/van.
Best time to visit
November to May — dry season with calm seas for island hopping.
