Tagaytay Couples Horse Riding + Taal Views
About this tour
Tagaytay's ridge sits at 600 metres above sea level and offers one of the Philippines' most famous views: Taal Lake, and within the lake, Taal Volcano Island — a volcano within a lake within a caldera, one of nature's most striking geological formations. Riding along the ridge road on horseback, through pine trees and flowering hedges, with this view appearing in breaks in the canopy, is one of the most quietly romantic things you can do in the Philippines without taking a flight.
The horses are gentle, well-trained, and handled by experienced local guides. The ride follows a trail along the Tagaytay ridge for 45 minutes in each direction — through a pine forest section, then along an open ridge stretch where the view of Taal opens completely, then back through the forest. For couples who have never ridden, the guide walks alongside and the horses are specifically chosen for their calm temperament with novice riders. For experienced riders, the pace can be increased on the open ridge section.
After the ride, the operator sets up a simple viewpoint picnic at a private clearing with an unobstructed panorama of Taal: proper cushions and a low picnic table (Japanese-style), fresh strawberries from the Tagaytay farms, local artisan cheese, bread rolls, and a flask of hot Benguet coffee — the ideal combination for Tagaytay's cool highland air (average 22°C). A bottle of prosecco can be added for celebrations (request in advance).

About the area
Tagaytay City is 60km south of Makati — typically 1 to 1.5 hours by car depending on traffic. The city sits directly on the rim of the Taal caldera, the ancient volcanic crater now filled by Taal Lake. The active Taal Volcano Island sits within the lake, creating a view of extraordinary geological drama available from every point along the ridge.
