About this tour

On 8 November 2013, Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), one of the strongest storms ever recorded, devastated Tacloban and the surrounding region of Leyte. This moving half-day tour pays tribute to the thousands who lost their lives and to the resilience of the survivors, tracing the sites that have become powerful symbols of memory and hope.

The tour visits the MV Eva Jocelyn Shrine in Barangay Anibong, built from part of a cargo ship that the storm surge hurled inland onto homes, now preserved as a memorial to the disaster. You also pay respects at the Yolanda mass grave and memorial, where victims are remembered with their names inscribed in stone, and other monuments around the city that mark the tragedy and recovery.

Along the way the route takes in the iconic San Juanico Bridge, the longest bridge spanning seawater in the Philippines, linking Leyte and Samar. Led by a guide who shares first-hand accounts of that day and the rebuilding that followed, the tour is a respectful, deeply human journey through one of the most significant chapters in recent Philippine history.
