About this tour

This full-day adventure ventures from Siargao across to Bucas Grande Island, home to the spectacular Sohoton Cove National Park, where emerald lagoons, sea caves and a rare stingless jellyfish sanctuary hide among the mangroves and limestone. It is a magical, less-visited counterpoint to Siargao's surf scene.

The day's highlight is the Tojoman Jellyfish Sanctuary, a crystal-clear lagoon where you can swim gently among thousands of harmless, stingless jellyfish, an utterly surreal experience that peaks from March to June. You also explore atmospheric sea caves: Hagukan Cave, the snore-like luminescent cave entered only at low tide, and Magkukuob Cave, where you swim and climb through the cavern to a five-metre cliff jump exit.

Boats thread through dramatic limestone passages and hidden lagoons along the way, and kayaking and cliff-jumping round out the adventure. With its caves, jellyfish and glassy green water, Sohoton Cove is one of the most unforgettable day trips in all of Mindanao.

About the area

Sohoton Cove National Park sits on Bucas Grande Island, off the coast of Siargao in Surigao del Norte. A maze of mangroves, limestone islets, hidden lagoons and sea caves, it shelters the rare stingless jellyfish of Tojoman Lagoon. Quieter and wilder than Siargao's surf towns, it is one of the most enchanting natural attractions in the region.

Frequently asked questions

When can I see the stingless jellyfish?
They are present from around March to October, with the densest blooms from March to June. The jellyfish are stingless and harmless, but you must not use sunscreen or touch them in the sanctuary.
How do I get to Sohoton Cove?
It is on Bucas Grande Island, reached by boat from Siargao (often from Del Carmen or General Luna). The crossing makes for a long but rewarding full-day trip, weather permitting.
Is cave entry tide-dependent?
Yes. Hagukan Cave can only be entered at low tide because its entrance sits just above the water, so itineraries are timed around the tides.
