About this tour

For certified divers, Puerto Galera delivers an extraordinary variety of underwater terrain in a single day, and this package pairs its best wreck and wall sites. The Sabang Wrecks are the obvious starting point: three small boats deliberately sunk to form artificial reefs, now encrusted with coral and patrolled by big schools of batfish and surgeonfish. At a manageable depth, divers can often cover all three in one relaxed dive, making them a favorite for photographers.

The second dive heads to the dramatic topography that gives Puerto Galera its reputation. Sites like the Canyons on the Verde Island Passage drop through a series of staged ravines from around 20 to 28 meters, where nutrient-rich currents draw giant trevally, sweetlips and snappers. Sabang Reef, by contrast, is a deep-water coral garden of gorgonian fans, whip corals and giant barrel sponges, with pinnacles and crevices full of macro life. Dives are guided by local divemasters who tailor the sites to the day's conditions and your experience, so you get walls, wrecks and reef in one outing.

Frequently asked questions

What certification do I need?
An Open Water certification covers the wrecks and shallower reef sites. For the deeper canyon sections, Advanced Open Water or equivalent experience is recommended, and operators will check your logbook.
Are the sites affected by currents?
The Verde Island Passage canyons can have strong currents, which is exactly why they attract big fish. Your divemaster times dives to the conditions and may swap to calmer sites if needed.
Can I rent extra gear like a wetsuit or computer?
Yes. While tanks and weights are included, full equipment such as wetsuit, BCD, regulator and dive computer can be rented from the dive center for an additional fee.
