Corregidor Island Full-Day Historical Tour from Manila
About this tour
Corregidor Island is the most important WWII historical site in the Philippines — the island fortress at the mouth of Manila Bay where Filipino and American forces made their last stand against the Japanese in May 1942, and where MacArthur made his famous "I shall return" promise. The island is an open-air museum of tunnels, gun batteries, ruins and memorials.
The day trip departs from the CCP pier at 7:30 AM by fast ferry (1 hour). On the island, an electric tram takes you to the main sites: the Malinta Tunnel (a massive underground bunker network — the light and sound show inside is excellent), the Pacific War Memorial, the ruins of Battery Way (the last gun batteries that fired), the Spanish lighthouse (colonial-era, still functioning), and the Japanese Garden of Peace. Return ferry at 2:00 PM.
