Lake Sebu — T'boli Cultural Immersion
About this tour
High in the cool uplands of South Cotabato, Lake Sebu is the cultural heartland of the T'boli people, the famous Dreamweavers of Mindanao. This full-day immersion takes you beyond the postcard view of the lake into the living traditions of one of the Philippines' most distinctive indigenous groups. The T'boli are renowned for t'nalak, a sacred abaca cloth whose intricate patterns are said to come to the weavers in dreams sent by Fu Dalu, the spirit of the abaca. You will meet local weavers, watch the painstaking ikat dyeing and back-strap weaving process, and hear the brass kulintang and hegelung music that accompanies T'boli life.
The day balances culture with adventure. Lake Sebu's Seven Falls are linked by one of the highest zipline systems in Southeast Asia, sending you soaring hundreds of metres above the cascading waterfalls and forest canopy. You will glide across the lake itself on a flower-decked boat, pass through floating lotus gardens, and share a lunch of freshly farmed tilapia, the lake's signature dish. It is an honest, respectful encounter with T'boli heritage rather than a staged show, supporting the very communities who keep these traditions alive.

About the area
Lake Sebu sits about 1,000 metres above sea level in South Cotabato and is often called the Summer Capital of Southern Mindanao for its cool climate. It is the ancestral home of the T'boli and Ubo peoples, whose weaving, music, and brass-casting traditions make it one of the most culturally rich destinations in the country. The lake is dotted with tilapia fish pens and lotus gardens, and the surrounding hills hide the famous chain of seven waterfalls.
