Casaroro Falls & Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Trek
About this tour
This full-day nature trip from Dumaguete pairs two of Negros Oriental's most beautiful highland landscapes: a dramatic plunging waterfall and a pair of serene crater lakes. The day begins in the cool uplands of Valencia, where a trek down some 350 steps and a short river scramble lead to Casaroro Falls, a slender 30-metre column of water dropping into an emerald pool hemmed by mossy boulders and dense forest, a refreshing reward after the descent.
The second half heads higher into the mountains to the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes, two interconnected crater lakes sitting around 850 metres above sea level within a protected natural park. From the viewing area you can take in panoramic views over the lakes, the Tanon Strait and even Cebu on a clear day, then walk a short forest trail between the two lakes or cross by local boat, surrounded by birdsong and quiet wilderness.
With air-conditioned transport from Dumaguete, a guide and lunch, the tour combines a satisfying bit of trekking with stunning scenery and a welcome escape into the cool, green Negros highlands. Good footwear is recommended for the steps down to the falls.
