About this tour

Camiguin packs more nature into its tiny frame than islands ten times its size, and this full-day combo serves up two of its finest experiences. The morning belongs to Mantigue Island, a protected nature park and marine sanctuary just off the southeast coast at Mahinog. A short bangka ride drops you on a ribbon of powdery white sand that loops the whole islet in about 15 minutes on foot, but the real magic is underwater. The south side plunges into a steep drop-off where vibrant reefs teem with parrotfish, jacks, giant clams, eels and, if you are lucky, a passing sea turtle.

After your snorkeling time on Mantigue (visits are capped at around three hours, with an option to extend), you head back to the mainland in Mambajao to soak away the salt at Ardent Hot Spring. Fed by the slopes of Mount Hibok-Hibok, the spring fills a series of stepped pools set among lush tropical greenery. The water is comfortably warm rather than scalding, making it a relaxing way to close out a day in the sun before heading back to your accommodation.

About the area

Camiguin is a small volcanic island off the northern coast of Mindanao, reachable by ferry from Balingoan in Misamis Oriental. Often called the Island Born of Fire, it is studded with seven volcanoes and known for hot and cold springs, waterfalls, and the famous sunken cemetery. The capital town of Mambajao is the usual base, with Mantigue Island lying off the southeastern municipality of Mahinog.

Frequently asked questions

Is the snorkeling suitable for beginners?
Yes. The shallow sandy areas near the beach are calm and beginner-friendly, while confident swimmers can explore the deeper drop-off on the south side. Life vests are available.
Is Ardent Hot Spring actually hot?
It is pleasantly warm rather than scalding, often described as lukewarm. It is fed naturally from Mount Hibok-Hibok and is most relaxing in the late afternoon or early evening.
How long do we get on Mantigue Island?
The standard visit is around three hours due to sanctuary rules, with a small fee available to extend by an hour if you want more beach and snorkel time.
