Banaue Rice Terraces Tour
About this tour
The Banaue Rice Terraces in Ifugao Province are often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World" — 2,000-year-old terraces carved by hand by the Ifugao people into the Cordillera mountains, still irrigated by a traditional system of canals that has survived two millennia. UNESCO listed them as a World Heritage Site in 1995.
The standard 2-day tour from Manila includes an overnight bus (9 hours), a full day at the terraces with guided village walks through the working rice fields, visits to traditional Ifugao houses, and time at the Banaue Viewpoint. On the way back, many tours stop at Batad Amphitheater — a series of terraces shaped in a bowl around a small village, arguably even more beautiful than Banaue itself.
