Tagaytay sits on a ridge 700 metres above sea level, looking directly down at Taal Volcano and its crater lake — one of the most striking views in Luzon, and only 1.5 hours from Manila. The main activity is eating: bulalo (beef bone marrow soup), mushroom burger at Leslie's, and the Filipino brunch scene at the weekend markets along Aguinaldo Highway. You can ride a horse down to the lake and take a bangka to Taal Volcano Island (P1,200–1,800 total), though the PHIVOLCS alert level fluctuates —
