Things to do in El Nido
🚣 Island Hopping Tour A
Big & Small Lagoon, Secret Lagoon and Shimizu Island — the iconic route. Book directly at the wharf the night before (₱1,200–1,500 per person, lunch included). Go on a weekday to avoid tour-boat traffic at the lagoons.
🏖️ Nacpan Beach
A 4 km stretch of golden sand, quieter than the town beaches. About 45 minutes by tricycle from El Nido town (₱250 return). Best visited Tuesday–Thursday when it’s less crowded.
🌅 Las Cabanas sunset
The best sunset spot on the island, with a zipline over the sea (₱250–350) and a bar right on the sand. Head there at 4pm to get a good spot.
🐠 Snorkeling at Shimizu Island
Coral gardens and clownfish in warm, clear water — part of Tour A. Bring an underwater camera; the reef here is in better shape than most of Bacuit Bay.

🗓️ Best time to visit El Nido
November to May (dry season); March–May is sunniest and calmest. June–October brings rain and strong winds — some tours cancel, the bay gets choppy.
✈️ How to get to El Nido
Option 1: Fly direct to El Nido (ENI) from Manila — ~1.5 hrs, ₱3,000–6,000. Option 2: Fly to Puerto Princesa (PPS, cheaper flights) then a 5–6 hr van/bus (₱600–800). Most travellers prefer the direct flight to save the van ride, especially in high season.

What is the difference between Tour A, B, C and D in El Nido?
Tour A covers the famous Big and Small Lagoon plus Shimizu snorkeling — the most popular. Tour B goes to Entalula Beach and Cathedral Cave. Tour C visits Helicopter Island and Matinloc Shrine. Tour D is the least crowded, with Hidden Beach and Cadlao Lagoon. Do Tour A first, then Tour C for variety.
Is El Nido expensive?
Compared to other Philippine destinations, yes — slightly. Budget travellers can get by on ₱1,500–2,000/day including accommodation, food and one island tour. Mid-range is ₱3,000–5,000/day. Accommodation prices spike during Christmas and Easter.
Should I fly direct to El Nido or via Puerto Princesa?
Direct is more convenient but costs more. The PPS + van combo saves ₱1,500–3,000 but adds 5–6 hours of travel. If time is tight, fly direct. If you’re on a budget or want to stop at Puerto Princesa’s Underground River, go via PPS.
How many days do I need in El Nido?
Four days minimum to do the main island tours without rushing. Six to seven days lets you slow down, explore Nacpan and catch a sunset at Las Cabanas properly.
Is the water clear enough to snorkel without a wetsuit?
Yes — the water is warm year-round (27–30°C). No wetsuit needed. A rash guard helps with sun protection on long boat days. Visibility is best March–May when the sea is calmest.
