Coron is one of those places that looks photoshopped β Kayangan Lake, the shipwrecks, the limestone β and then you get there and itβs somehow better. The only hard part is the getting there. Coron sits on Busuanga Island in northern Palawan, and how you reach it from Manila can swing your budget by thousands of pesos. Letβs sort it out properly.
The short version
- Fly Manila β Busuanga (USU): ~1 hour, fastest, then a 30β45 min van to Coron town.
- Overnight ferry Manila β Coron: ~13 hours, cheapest if you have time.
- 2026 money-saver: flying via Clark (CRK) instead of Manila can cut the airfare dramatically.
Option 1: Fly to Busuanga (the fast way)
Cebu Pacific (CebGo), Philippine Airlines, AirSwift and Sunlight Air all fly Manila to Busuanga Airport (USU), the gateway to Coron. Itβs about a 1-hour flight, after which a shared or private van covers the 30β45 minutes into Coron town.
The important 2026 change: turboprop operations moved out of NAIA Manila, and because Busuangaβs runway is short, Coron flights are turboprop-only. Many travellers now fly out of Clark (CRK) in Pampanga instead and save roughly β±3,000ββ±5,000 per person. Add a β±450ββ±600 bus to Clark and you can still come out well ahead. Always price both airports before you book β compare Manila and Clark fares here.

Option 2: The overnight ferry (the budget way)
If your wallet matters more than your hours, the overnight ferry from Manila is a rite of passage. It leaves the Manila port around 17:30 and arrives in Coron about 06:30 β roughly a 13-hour crossing. You trade a nightβs sleep (and a nightβs hotel cost) for a budget fare and a sunrise arrival into one of the prettiest harbours in the country.
Which should you choose?
- Short trip / limited days: fly β and check Clark to save.
- Tight budget, flexible time: take the ferry and bank the savings.
- Doing El Nido too? Many travellers fly into one and ferry between the two β see Coron vs El Nido to plan the combo.
When you arrive: staying & doing Coron
Most travellers base in Coron town (Coron proper), close to the port, restaurants and tour operators. Book your island-hopping early β Kayangan Lake and the wreck snorkeling trips are the highlight and the good boats fill up. Compare Coron hotels here, line up tours and activities, and read our full Coron guide before you go.
